Prior to pursuing graduate education at Seattle University, I worked in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric nursing, as well as case management, social service program administration, and in-home care for adults with disabilities. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I have experience in outpatient community mental health treating a wide variety of conditions, telehealth services with a focus in ADHD, anxiety, and mood disorders, as well as with the evidence-based coordinated specialty care New Journeys Program for people ages 15-40 experiencing first-episode psychosis. I honestly can’t see myself doing anything else; it is a tremendous privilege to be with people and bear witness to life’s challenges and celebrations.
When I’m not seeing patients, you can find me teaching at my alma mater. Psychopharmacology is my favorite content to teach, and interest in how medicines - both natural and synthetic - affect our biology, perceptions, and experiences is what brought me into this work.
Outside of work, I am often found spending time cooking, watching basketball, doing deep research into random questions that have popped into my head, or cuddling my dog, who is named Shark because I found him on a beach in Belize after scuba diving with nurse sharks 14 years ago. I also enjoy gardening and have a special interest in growing medicinal herbs to use at home.
I am my authentic self in each interaction, as I invite my patients to be. To that end, while I won’t spend our time together on my own identities and experiences, you are absolutely welcome to ask me questions about those things, as they can be important in creating an authentic relationship grounded in psychological safety.
My practice is full, and I am not currently accepting new patients at this time.
